Info: Inspired by Sasha and Digweed’s seminal Northern Exposure compilations, Shaggz copped 2 tables and a mixer back in 2000, initially playing a slew of outdoor mountain parties. Regular gigs across Fort Collins soon followed, culminating with monthly residencies at The Vault ( more dance oriented nights) and Mystiq (all night downtempo sets) that ran strong for more than two years.
Around this time, Shaggz also launched the now defunct fortcollinsbeats.com, a haven for local DJs that allowed them to post mixes and biographies, as well as providing a calendar for all Fort Collins dance music events. With the site and the help of the media Shaggz convinced Bohemian nights to allow DJ’s into the new west fest. A festival in Fort Collins, Co that
up until than had been a live music showcase for the entire city.
And after a decade spent bringing underground electronic music to Fort Fun, Shaggz headed southbound on I-25 to Denver, bringing his driving, esoteric blend of tunes along with him.
He hasn’t looked back since, and has already thrown two well-received warehouse parties in the Mile High City, enlisting choice local and out of state talent for assistance. He has stayed busy ever since, continuing to throw intimate one-off events around Denver and playing shows for different crews. In 2011 Shaggz is embarking on a new quest. joining forces with the Bass Brigade and starting to throw new parties under the guise of Party Over Here.
